What do you get when you mix email with a really bad version of Second Life and spam eating sharks? Why, 3D Mailbox of course.
From their website:
3D Mailbox delivers a fantastic, smarter e-mail experience. Immerse yourself in 3-D as you read and write your mail. Relax to the sounds of the ocean, seagulls, and cool tunes. Hang with your mail poolside, or feed your spam to the sharks! Deleting spam is so much fun, you may wish you had more!

I really wish I could cut out some of the extra frills on web-based mail services, and now they're just making it worse! I long for the days when I logged in to my Pine e-mail account through SSH. :-)
Heh, those were the days. Who would have thought Amanda was a closet UNIX geek?
Thunderbird, still the best thing out there. I have to admit, this looks like a fun diversion, but it couldn't be my everyday mailbox unless I got like 10 emails. Imagine getting 200-300 spam "people" waiting in line. Imagine what the beach would look like after the sharks! I'd be taken to the hague for crimes against spamanity for the slaughter.
Cute concept, but in the end it's just bloatware. I want an email client that's 300k installed and prefilters my bloody email. Leave all the bells and whistles for my parents who forward every bloody chain letter they get.
I'm reminded of this old MSN chat that was "comic chat". Instead of just lines one the screen, the chat was laid out in comic book form. You can imagine how it went (since it was MSN): there were only 10 comic characters, so everyone looked the same and it was impossible to tell who said what; they only put two speech balloons in each frame, so the conversation didn't flow; over dial up the time to render was insane. Go MSN! :-)
