Lots of personality. :-)
Update: A couple more photos have been posted.
Sorry for neglecting dashing.com over the past few weeks. I swear I visit every day and read the forums. But I've been working hard on other projects for clients, plus there hasn't really been anything interesting to write about.
Anyhow, it's just been announced that the new Catstevens.com will go live sometime next week.
Once the new management has taken over I plan to start a series of posts here about the old site, from my perspective. Mostly funny things and interesting inside stories, no dirt or gossip ... well, not much anyway. So look forward to that.
It's kind of crazy to think that in November Cat Stevens will be releasing a new album of secular pop music. I can't wait to hear it. I'm trying to work my connections and get a promo copy early, if I do I'll be posting a detailed review.
I remember a conversation I had with Yusuf's brother David one day. I asked him if he ever thought Yusuf would return to music and play guitar again. This was long before "Indian Ocean" or any of the public performances that have since happened. He said, "No he's too old for that. He just likes to dig in his garden these days." I'm glad he was wrong.
To say I'm shocked would be an understatement. In less than two weeks this site has over 70 members and nearly 800 posts. The traffic is 2/3rds that of RobbieFulks.Com (a site I run for the singer of the same name) and I've seen a sizeable decrease in traffic at catstevens.com since we opened. Who would have ever thought that? Certainly not me.
I guess this means that not everyone hates the Noriko layout after all!
I have no idea if this is just the beginning, or simply a flash in the pan, but I'll take it either way. Thanks to everyone who signed up and to the hundreds of shy people who just lurk and read. Please feel free to join us.
Welcome Weary Travelers

Hello there. My name is John, and this is dashing.com.
Me: Ok, now what do I say?
The universal consciousness: Tell them about all of the great features and neat things they can do here
Me: But there really aren't any
The universal consciousness: Make some up
We have tons of great features and neat things to do here, such as...
Me: Ok, now what?
The universal consciousness: Tell them about the Cat Stevens Postcards
Me: Oh geez, you know I never did get around to doing those. I think I promised that five years ago.
The universal consciousness: Ooh, sorry
Me: Besides this isn't a Cat Stevens site, I'm done with that.
The universal consciousness: Gordon Lightfoot postcards?
Please be sure to try out our nifty Gordon Lightfoot postcards. I'm sure they will brighten your day.
Me: Hey, I think they bought it! Good idea, man.
The universal consciousness: Anytime. I'm omnipotent and all knowing, you know. Don't forget to tell the old Cat users about the forum.
Me: Right, right...yes I will. I'm sure the new Cat site will be great though, so no one will use them.
The universal consciousness: What makes you think they'll use your forums even if the new one sucks?
Me: Well this site is cool, it has lots of neat stuff, remember?
The universal consciousness: Like pictures of your dog?
Me: Shut up
Also a big welcome to all of my friends from CatStevens.Com. Please make yourselves at home and sign up for an account. The forums here won't be moderated so please be aware of that and enter at your own risk. :-)
The universal consciousness: You're not very good at this are you?
Me: Wah? I thought that was fine.
The universal consciousness: Oh yeah, you should be a writer, what was I thinking? ... Say, who's the Japanese chick?
Me: Oh, that's Noriko Nakagoshi. I explained it all in the about section.
The universal consciousness: Dude, ix-nay on the oriko-nay
Me: :-(
